Dompé Further Elevates Commitment to Ophthalmics with Industry-Leading Hires
Manuela Leone, MD and Whitney Hauser, OD join Dompé to Drive R&D
and Medical Education Strategy
MILAN, Italy and SAN MATEO, CA, April 14, 2022 – As part of its ongoing commitment to blaze new trails in ophthalmics alongside other areas of unmet need, Dompé Farmaceutici S.p.A and Dompé U.S. Inc., (collectively Dompé) announce the addition of two thought-leading clinicians to its leadership team.
Manuela Leone, MD joins the Milan-based team as the Head of Global Clinical Operations with more than 20 years of experience managing and coordinating clinical research on a global scale. Dr. Leone will lead a team responsible for Phase 1 through pivotal trials across Dompé’s Neurotrophins and NETosis research areas. Most recently, Dr. Leone was CMO and Head of R&D for Mediolanum Group, and Vice President and General Manager of Global Business Unit Oncology for LabCorp Drug Development. She did her medical training at the University of Pavia in Italy, where she graduated summa cum laude and completed a Pediatrics residency. Dr. Leone completed post doctorate research in Immunology and Virology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
Whitney Hauser, OD, FAAO, joins the U.S. team as the Senior Director of Global Medical Communications to lead the company’s scientific communications function and medical education and publications initiatives in areas of unmet need within Ophthalmics. Dr. Hauser joins the company following a career as a clinician and in industry. The founder of the website DryEyeCoach.com, Dr. Hauser was Director of Peer Education for US Ophthalmics at Novartis and Director of Clinical Affairs for Keplr Vision and practiced at the Toyos Clinic. The winner of many industry awards, including the Gertrude Stanton Innovation Award and the Theia Award, she completed her medical training and residency at the Southern College of Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
